7.30am
19.6 degrees, clear sky and cool breeze.
Had
breakfast – Kaylene was impressed with my fresh scrambled eggs, straight from
the chooks here, for breakfast.
Headed
along the path to the Cut to find some dolphins. She loved the beach and
luckily the weather is just perfect today.
Unfortunately
we only saw a couple of dolphins in the distance but she was impressed with
that as she hadn’t seen dolphins in the ocean before. A lady had warned us she
saw a metre long snake but we only saw a couple of bob-tailed skinks.
Back
home – Margaret’s lovely front garden looks so peaceful.
Had
morning tea with Bob and Margaret and chatted till lunchtime. After lunch
Kaylene and I headed into town. I detoured after crossing over the Cut Bridge
to check out one of the older canal housing areas – built in the Tuscan style.
Then we headed to the beach and found a car park with a view over Avalon Beach.
As we were admiring the view I spotted dolphins racing along the edge of the
rocky reef off shore. They were zooming then after a few jumps and rolls
settled into the rhythmic up and down as they continued northwards. Kaylene was
very impressed. You can see them if you zoom in on the second photo.
Zoomed
in and managed to get one shot with a dolphin in it.
Continued
along the beach to Falcon Beach – no more dolphin sightings. Then we headed to
the Spud Shed to get some vegies and fruit – I wanted some more yummy mangoes. They
didn’t have any big ones left that I got for 99c but there were smaller ones
for 3 for $2 that looked the same, that is like a Bowen Mango. We got some meat
from there too as their prices are so much cheaper than Woolies and Coles.
On
the way home we went into a newer canal area on the inlet side – much nicer
homes in here.
Loaded
up the truck with bags and food etc and headed off for our holiday week. We
have a ground floor 2 bedroom unit which is very roomy and has a full kitchen.
I
went back to pick up Steve and the last of our stuff – bit of a process moving
house!! Shane and Doreen came over for drinks and to catch up with Kaylene.
That
lead to a BBQ by the pool but as the pool and spa closed at 8pm we will have
check that out tomorrow. Very nice – we think we will enjoy this ‘luxury’ for a
week. Thanks Kaylene and Rick – only sad bit is that Rick couldn’t join us. Hopefully
we can take him detecting next year when his back is all better again.
