Fri, 1st June, 2018 Bush camp, Mt Dockrell goldfields, south-west of Halls Creek, WA

7am 20 degrees, cold easterly wind continued all night. Clear sky again.

Back to Steve’s patch. Steve got to work with the metal rack and cleared the area he had found bits in so I could go over it again with my 2300. He got a nasty blister – not used to this hard work now. I worked slowly back and forth. He worked further out to see if the patch had spread outwards.

After smoko I worked on my blog for a while. Steve continued detecting of course.

30 degrees at lunchtime. The wind isn’t as bad. Steve found 10 more bits, all around the patch area. He also found a recent softdrink can nearby so someone walked by and missed the patch – lucky for us.

After smoko I went back to do the other half of the cleared area. I found some more and so did Steve. The biggest though of the lot was only a 1.25 gram nugget. Not the prettiest gold as it is very rough – has travelled anywhere. Will have to keep it separate so we can get its purity tested since it is supposed to be a pure as Palmer gold.

Time for a drink and enjoy the sunset colours – no actual sunset as we are down in the creek and it disappears behind the hill ages before it actually sets.

Nippy wind didn’t settle tonight so only a quick early shower.

Dinner under the stars, one satellite then a few games of Skipbo before bed. We can feel a few aches and pains as the body gets used to all the bending over digging.
