Mon, 4th June, 2018 Bush camp, Mt Dockrell goldfields, south-west of Halls Creek, WA

7am 17.6 degrees, clear sky and the gusty ESE wind is back making it feel colder.

Detected scrapes – no joy. Wind stronger.  Got a text from Kylie – they are leaving Exmouth. Strong winds there too.

Moved camp. Saw another couple so stopped to say hello. They are from Gladstone. Showed him the silver stuff and he thinks it is Galena (Lead) so might just be door stops for the boys.

Drove back along the track and found some big deeper shafts. Found some more interesting rocks – is this copper? The mine is marked as copper on Tengraph. Poor truck is getting more weight with all these rocks.

Lots of old timer rubbish, chisel heads and fine wire mesh they used in the dry blowers which drives us nuts when we are detecting.

Spotted some bones in the bottom of one hole – not human thank goodness.

Back to the burnt area where we had picked up a little bit each. Someone else has recently been over with a detector and left big holes and his water bottles. I didn’t find anything around the area then I went back over his holes and filled them in. I was rewarded with a few little nuglets at the end of the pushes. Steve found one.

Drove back to an open area in the valley to try and get out of the wind. There was a fireplace and chopped wood too. Set up for the night.

The wind settled. I got some blogging done while Steve went for a walk with his detector.

Lovely sunset. Tom & Sandy rang – big storm about to hit.
