Mum
and Dad’s 57th wedding anniversary today. Will ring them later.
Had
a noisy night as the wind had come up and there was a loose window and it
banged all night. 7am 19.5 degrees, mackerel clouds coming from the south.
Packed
up and headed back to Halls Creek. Clear sky here and very windy. Lots of
activity in town. So many caravans pulling in for fuel etc. The Coles Express
here does a roaring trade. Checked out the Rodeo Ground – another great bonnet
painting.
There
was a memorial to all the helicopter pilots who have lost their lives
mustering.
A
couple had very interesting stories.
I
uploaded three more days of my blog. Steve rang David’s friend about doing the
Canning Stock Route. Then he gave Rick a call – doing a lot better.
Checked
Facebook world and the weather forecast. Looks ok for the next week 14 to 33
and no rain.
Got
some groceries then rang Mum and Dad to wish them a happy anniversary.
Put
co-ordinates of our 40E section into the Hema so we know where we are supposed
to be. Headed back out of town and then turned down the Tanami Road.
Checked
out the wheels on this trailer.
Continued
on and turned east into the Ruby Plains Mine area. Sent of messages to our boys
letting them know what we are doing. Jon rang, he is well though Jess has been
ill lately. He is doing well at golf.
Checked
out some tracks. Very hilly country – no real flat area to detect and only one
spot has been burnt so there is lots of spinifex to contend with. We followed
the edge of a creek to a mine marked on the map but it was just where they have
pulled all the dirt out of the creek and processed it with dry blowers. We
headed back along the creek and found a spot to park up for the night. Lovely
afternoon temperature. The sun disappeared early behind the hills.
6pm
the chill started coming in but there was no wind so it was quite pleasant. Had
dinner then played Skipbo – Steve won 2 games to 1. Hopefully that means he
will find gold tomorrow!!
9pm
quite chilly but all good in the truck with the doors down.
