Thurs, 1st
Heard the fireworks on the beach at midnight as we got into bed - they were very loud!
Shower of rain at 5am to start the new year off a bit cooler.
Overcast for our walk along the pathway.
Quiet day. The others went off for a drive.
David, Amanda etc headed back to Maryborough at 3pm. Amanda has to work tomorrow and her cousin etc will be exploring Maryborough before heading off the day after.
We pulled down the last of the fairy lights and Paul’s big shade shelter - party time is over.
Kaylene rang so we caught up on her news.
Fri, 2nd
Cloudy again for our walk.
Bit nicer by the time I went down for a swim with Jenny.
Steve panned the last of his crushed rocks watched by Terry, Jenny and Ann.
Robert called in for a chat and watched Steve too.
Lou rang to wish us a happy new year. They had a good time on their cruise to New Zealand and back.
More people in the street packing up and heading home to work.
Sun out again so washed the sheets from upstairs. Gave it a clean then packed the sheets away. Closed up the windows etc as we have all we need downstairs and in the camper.
Sat, 3rd
Clear sky with a band of cloud on the horizon - very humid.
Sent Kaylene & Rick a message for their wedding anniversary today.
David had brought up from Maryborough Terry’s father, Claude’s carver chair. Steve put some more screws in it to make it solid again so Terry can use it at home. The arm rests will help him get up and down without relying on leaning on his wonky table. Just needs a sand and new varnish. Need to find a table now.
Full Moon tonight - Super Moon apparently. Unfortunately that band of cloud was still on the horizon so didn’t get to see it rise. Saw it later as it came over the top of the neighbour’s house and it was still pretty big.
Storm hit at 10.30pm - good rain.
Sun, 4th
Sent Dale a happy birthday message.
At last I finished writing up my blog for this year - yeah. Will post it over a few days. Now to start on my NZ itinerary.
Sorted out some things for Terry. Packing up to go back to Bundy tomorrow.
Robert dropped off some of his homemade salami for Terry - we all tried it, very nice.
Last drinks with Terry. Jenny and Paul stopped by too.
Mon, 5th
Into Bundaberg. Steve pruned behind Terry’s shed - the neighbour’s plants have gone wild over the fence. I took Terry grocery shopping.
After lunch I varnished the carver chair Steve fixed up. Now to find a new table as his is now so wonky - had it a very long time.
Rang Dan to pass on our good wishes for Sophia’s eye operation tomorrow. Hopefully it will fix her lazy eye situation.
Tues, 6th
Back to Bundy to do our shopping. New walking shoes, socks, jeans, thermals and spray jackets for our NZ trip. Got a suitcase from an Op Shop and found a nice solid table for Terry there as well. He is all set now with a solid chair and table.
Fran sent photos of Sophia waiting to go into surgery. She was such a good girl, the staff loved here. The eye operation was successful.
After a long day at the hospital Dan, Fran & Sophia got home so they video called us. Sophia was lively and playing with her toys like nothing was different. We can see the difference in her eyes of course. She will have a check up on Monday but otherwise it is all looking good.
Wed, 7th
Back to our morning walk. Very windy so the sea is rough and wild so no swimming for me.
I did my washing and Steve started on the truck. He has to pull out the sub-tank, wiring etc so Paul can do some welding on the chassis for him. Will be some groaning tomorrow after all the on the ground work under the truck.
I continued with my NZ itinerary. I had started it in Cairns, marking on the old Wikicamps app the places we want to see and the roads to travel. Need to see if I can fit it all in the 2 months!
