Mon, 24th Nov, 2025 Apex Park RV Stop, Kumbia to Geck Family beach house, Woodgate, Qld

21.1 degree min, cloudy and light breeze.

Continued on the Bunya Highway towards Kingaroy.

Into Kingaroy and around to the dump point in a park with a big Peanut.

Found two art works in lanes - its a shame they aren’t on a wall where you can step back and enjoy the full view.

These would be good silos for the artists.

Turned onto the Kingaroy-Barkers Creek Road. Lovely views across the green pastures.

It is a narrow bouncy road twisting through the paddocks and hills. Across Barkers Creek which had water in it. Tall gums by the roadside so it is a picturesque drive.

Left onto the Burnett Highway. Lots of yellow flowers lining the roadside.

Around the edge of Barkers Creek lagoons.

More water like a lake. I then realised this is the bottom of the Bjelke Petersen Dam when we passed the turn off to it.

Met the Bunya Highway again just before we entered Goomeri - home of pumpkins. Hence the mural.

Will have to stop next time and explore the old buildings etc.

Through lush green pastures then into drier country but still quite green.

Stopped for a cuppa at Ban Ban Springs.

Not sure of the date but this is Terry (standing) with his brother-in-law Robbie having a drink from the spring.

Then Steve in 2021.

2023.

2025. The water is pumping out well and nice and cool.

Onto the Isis Highway under a clear blue sky. Around a row of hills into dark red soil - volcanic?

Travelling with rounded hills on either side that reminds me of our Atherton Tablelands.

Passed Crater Lakes Road so must be volcanic. View back to the craters - you can just see two in the green grass.

Through Biggenden - need to go through my blog and mark off which towns I have done the history of so I know when we meander through here which to explore again. Lots of Cassias and Poincianas in bloom so very pretty.

Through drier country and a wiggly ‘range’ road then back to the red volcanic soil as we near Childers.

Around to Woolworths to stock up and buy a cooked chook and buns for lunch in the park.

Along Goodwood Road then right into Woodgate Road. The beautiful Norfolk Pine greets us as we turn onto the Esplanade and enjoy the beach view. Back to the Pacific Ocean again.

Parked at the front of the house and gave the truck and camper a wash then around to the back to drop the camper off in the carport of the shed.

Walked down to the beach for our arrival selfie.

Set up out the front for drinks. Cheers everyone. Nice to back at the beach. Looking forward to having our darlings and extended family here for Christmas.

Steve’s cousin, Paul, came over to say hi - they have a house behind us. We chatted the afternoon away. A storm is building that could have hail so Steve decided to put the truck in the neighbour’s carport just in case.

Just got that sorted when claps of thunder and lightning flashes hit us. Then the rain and very small hail stones it. We moved into the shed as that cell passed over us. I had to close up everything in the camper as the wind was changing directions and it was blowing in.

Paul had gone home to close up his place and brought back some Irish honeycomb liqueur he had - very nice. Another stronger cell came over and the thunder and lightning thumped and banged on the tin roof.

Eventually it eased so I made some burgers with our left over chicken for dinner and we all chatted on till 9pm. Checked the BOM - we had 30mm.

Back into the camper for a cuppa and shower. The sound of the sea crashing on the beach will send us off to sleep quickly tonight.
