Wed, 24th Jan, 2024 Malcolm & Kerry’s place, Westbury, Tas

Steve was up early and ready for the 6.30am departure with the silo (13 degrees). I stayed in bed!

Still overcast. I worked on my blog some more then made a cuppa and headed in to find the others. The sky is trying to clear as the sun shines down.

Bec and Tom arrived ready to do some gardening as the wedding will be in the back yard. Then Meg and her three children arrived so lots of activity. Her husband Jamie is in Vic racing his Sprintcar. They are heading over there for the long weekend to watch him race.

The boys came back then loaded up the next silo and headed off again. This time Daniel got the truck and Mal and Steve were in the pilot vehicle. They are delivering them to a farm at Poatina. I went with Mal last visit to deliver one to a dairy.

I did some washing as the sun is warming up (had to take my coat off) and the wind has picked up to they should dry quickly.

Lunch with some freshly picked cherry tomatoes - much more flavour than the shop ones. I had snacked on some blackberries and a few strawberries too while we were picking them. Mal also gave us some cucumbers.

Washing dry and put away. The wind has picked up a lot. Plans discussed for the wedding etc - hopefully they will get a lovely day for it. There is a big tree with the big white flower we saw in the cemetery at Beechworth and I asked Meg what it was as she is a florist - Magnolia. Sadly it browns soon after being picked - has a lovely scent.

Malcolm got out the go-cart he built for the grandkids. The eldest Eden has got it under control. Annika prefers the little motor bike. Zek is too young to be keen on anything yet.

I got a photo of the Buick that Malcolm had restored. A few bits of the original one he had here on our last visit has been used in this one.

The sky is clear now - good view of Quamby Bluff from here too.

BBQ dinner with the extended family which was great fun. Lots of chatter. A while later we realised Malcolm had disappeared. The humidity was right to bail the hay so off he went - the wonderful life of a farmer!

We said good night and headed into the camper. Malcolm still hadn’t come back.
