Fri, 24th July, 2015 Hard Hill Tourist Reserve, Wedderburn to Huntly Lions Park, Huntly

Heavy rain during the night but it was only for half an hour. Heavy clouds and misty rain this morning. Sent a text to Erica for her birthday as they are still at Chugleigh Park looking for peridots so she mightn’t get it for a while. Hope she is finding heaps.

I worked on my blog and Steve headed out detecting. He came home empty handed and put the TV on for lunch. It has been playing up where after a while the picture would go but we would have sound. We would then have to turn it off and wait so we have been turning it off for the intervals so we can watch a picture. Now it doesn’t even want to come on at all. I googled TVs in Bendigo.

The sun is trying to come out. Steve headed off for one last try to find a nugget. I did my skipping then went for a walk to drop off the rubbish till the rain chased me back to the van.

No gold for Steve – we reckon Mick Brown has found it all now with his new 7000 detector!! Packed up as we decided to head into Bendigo now so we can head to the shops early to get a new TV and do our other jobs – fuel, gas, water etc.

Erica rang as we were heading off. They only found very small peridots unfortunately.

Passed the cairn for Major Mitchell marking where he travelled through the area near Wedderburn.

Penny texted that they will be at Whroo on Monday ready to find gold!! Further along was Mt Korong with an elevation of 364 metres.

Lots of rain as we headed along towards Bendigo. Through Bendigo and into Huntly where there were a few campers in the small park. Got sorted just before the rain came down again.

Lou rang to say that the news just said the Strubers have been convicted of murdering Bruce and have been sentenced to life in prison – such wonderful news for Fiona and his children that they hopefully will be able to move on with their lives now after 3 years. Can imagine there will be prospectors crawling all over Palmerville Station now they are in jail.

Rang Rick to see if he had heard – he hadn’t as he has been working in Weipa. Tried Charles and Sue but hopefully they are out celebrating the verdict.

Steve tried the TV and guess what it’s working again. Will say how it goes tonight!! Just after the program finished at 10.30 the picture went off again. I think we will get a new one.
