Tues, 21st July, 2015 Melville Caves Campground, Kooyoora State Park

8.2 degrees in the van but only 4.1 outside and a lot windier today. The clouds are coming over too. The kookaburras were having a great laugh near the van.

Sent Tash a text and facebook message for her birthday – I forgot to send her a card!!

I worked on my blog while Steve went searching for that elusive gold.

He is a bit happier at lunch as he has found one little piece which weighed in at 0.2 grams. Every little bit counts!!

Off he went again to another area. He came back with a squashed top of a kerosene lamp where the wick comes out and another bit of gold – a bit bigger this time – 0.4 grams.

This rock made a good sound and he can see little specks in it so will crush it sometime and see if there is any gold in it.

He saw 30 foxes all strung up on a fence. Drove back to the quartz mine so I could see it too. Lovely view too.

Lots of quartz everywhere though they were looking for the clear crystals.

Found a nice shaped quartz in a big rock.

Steve tried chipping off some – there was a lot of feldspar as well which glittered and was in fan-like shapes.

Found a nice little crystal.

Amazing how the trees endure.

Another couple of bits.

Back to the van to pack up as we will head into Wedderburn tomorrow.

No fire tonight as the wind has come up a lot.

Tried Tash again and she and Jon were heading out to dinner so we wished her all the best.
