Thurs, 9th July, 2015 Lannecoorie River Reserve

Warmer morning as the clouds came over last night. 13 degrees in the van but haven’t been outside yet to check!!

Worked on my blog etc. Penny put a photo on Facebook of a nice one gram piece they found at Waanyarra. Wished Russell happy birthday via Facebook.

Steve headed off to see what he could find another speck of gold. I had recharged the mobile but still had credit to use up so rang Kaylene for a chat. I then went for a walk up to the weir again. Overcast and 11.6 degrees at 11.30am. Steve came back empty-handed again so had lunch and decided to move on to Maldon. One of the window latches had come off so he fixed that.

Another van arrived and Steve chatted with the chap who also detects and was from Bundaberg. Kate and Tony have been on the road for 4 years and have detected in Western Australia so we decided to stay for the night and chat. As they set up Steve and I did the walk to the weir so he could see it. When we got back Tony had the fire going so we joined them and Kate told me places to camp and where to detect etc which was so helpful.

As the fire made some nice coals Kate told us about ‘warming our lovelies’. A young man they met a few years ago around a fire put the coals under their chairs and the warmth came up and warmed their backsides and back. Tony put some under our chairs and it was so lovely. The best advice we have been given yet. They are having problems with their hot water lighting so Steve will check it out in the morning.

Getting cool a 6 degrees so headed into the van for dinner. Rang Erica and Terry for a chat.
