Thurs, 2nd July, 2015 ‘Waanyarra’, Dunolly State Forest

7.30 am 13 degrees in the van – warmer night though with the cloud cover. At 8am it was only 8.6 degrees outside. 9.30 am I was starting the washing and it was still only 10 degrees.

Andrea sent a photo text of a praying mantis with ‘guess where I am’. Googled it trying to find out but in the end had to text here, ‘where’. She was in Kuranda with Wendy and Kaylene!! Retail therapy. Looking forward to some outings with them when I get back.

A fantastic ‘Whinnybago’ came into camp. The chap and his two horses have traveled from Portland 3 weeks ago and are heading to Bundaberg to see a friend. Unfortunately he got the flu and the horses were sick too so he has only been doing 20-30km per day but hopes to do 50 km once they feel better.

Lovely sunny afternoon – enjoyed my walk.

Beautiful moon rising as we gathered around the fire again. 7pm it was only 4.2 degrees though. Forecast is for minus 1 overnight. Will see how the heater goes with the new pipe.

8.30pm it was only 1.5 degrees but we were warm and toasty in the van.
