Woke
to the light pitter patter of rain on the roof. Steve had packed the water
catcher away so now it rains!! 10 degrees in the van. Did our final pack up and
had a cuppa with Penny and Pete then headed off into Dunolly. Simon had sent up
a replacement filter and pickup pipe to see if they are the problem with the
heater not working under 0 degrees. He only posted it on Friday so hats off to
Australia Post for prompt delivery. Steve got some more fuel hose from the
servo and will change the existing fuel line provided too in case that is
causing it to freeze up as well.
Headed
off again to Laanecoorie and found a nice grassy spot in the camp ground beside
the Loddon River.
We
went for clear area to try and get the most sun for the solar panels but of
course it is drizzly rain so will have to put the genie on. There are 3 other
vans here and they had their genies going too.
Had
some yummy pumpkin soup for lunch to warm us up and put the heater on too as it
is only 8.5 degrees outside.
Tried
Youi again and the chap then rang me and we spent an hour or so on the phone
getting a quote for the van and car. The car was cheaper but it was market
value but the van still came in at $1300. He mentioned things they cover and
that other companies don’t so I rang Suncorp and checked out we were covered,
especially for going ‘off the bitumen’. We were and she got us $70 off so will
stick with Suncorp. That’s it for me chasing up insurance – does your head in!!
Malcolm
rang to ask about the heater but Steve was off wandering so he will ring back
later. They are in Melbourne, after racing in Sydney, waiting to catch the
ferry back to Tas.
6pm
it was 8 degrees outside.
Malcolm
rang back as the Spirit had just set off from Melbourne. He and Steve had a
great chat about the racing and Steve filled him in about the heater.
