11
months on the road – wow the time has flown by. Still loving it too. Woke to a
lovely sunny morning though it is still only 10 degrees in the van but the
heater fixes that quickly.
Sent
Steve Foster a text for his birthday.
At
9am it was 6.8 degrees outside but with the sun out it doesn’t feel as bad. Got
out the washing machine and started on my chores.
Steve
is laying the carpet. Luckily the grey will go alright in the van as our bench
tops are grey too. Not gluing it down so we can pull it up if we want. Very
happy with it especially as it was only $20 and hopefully it will keep the cold
from creeping up through the floor.
A
chap walking his dog stopped for a chat with Steve. He started up the Emu farm
nearby – we saw the signs when we drove to Maryborough and we saw a few other
places with emus too. He said that they did ok and then a lot more farms opened
but the market went quiet. He had stored his emu oil waiting for the price to
increase when a chap arrived from America wanting to buy it all and whatever
else he could get. So he got the other farmers together and the emu business
was in full swing again.
At
lunch it was still only 10 degrees with a light breeze that amazing is drying
the clothes. It was nice to be able to sit outside again. The magpies joined us
for lunch.
I
got peg hangers to put the jeans on so I can hang them inside overnight as they
are the slowest to dry. We got another knicker hanger to put the socks on too
so will set up the drying room in the ensuite later with the heater on to just
finish everything off. When the clothes are cold they still feel wet!
I
settled down with my book as Steve headed off for another speck of gold. I got
the fire going and was glad I had my ‘lovelies warmer’ going as it was getting
very cold. Steve got back about 5.30 and he was frozen. He went back to the
same spot and found another bigger one in the first 15 minutes then nothing
else. At least they are getting bigger.
Got
down to 5 again as we headed back inside for dinner.
