Sun, 16th Apr, 2017 Bush camp, Broad Arrow, WA (32 months on road)

Little sprinkle of rain during the night. Few clouds still around keeping it warmer - 7am 21 degrees.

Kevin headed off early detecting – we are more leisurely about getting up!! Hope he finds his nugget today.

Gavin, Tonia and kids and their friend Paul with his kids came out to visit after the Easter Bunny had been. Tonia brought us some hot cross buns, easter eggs and baked some brownies which was so lovely of her.

Steve had planted some nuglets near camp for the kids to detect. First Paul went over the area with his detector to see if he could find them – he has a Garrett – but he couldn’t. The kids (with Steve’s help) had fun and thought it was great.  They each found one and I put it in a big ziplock bag so they couldn’t lose it.

Little Ziva is the most enthusiastic about detecting and she would carry my detector and was able to swing it enough to get the big rubbish signals which we dug up together. She has a lot of energy for such a little person.

Kev had cut some steps down into a mine shaft area so we all walked over there for a look. First we checked out another spot that was dug out which lead to a shaft with a ladder. Won’t get me going down there!!

They have dug lots of interesting shafts and channels.

Lots of tin rubbish around too. Metal detector’s nightmare.

Across to where Kev had cut in the steps down to a big open shaft. The kids had a ball.

They headed home in the afternoon with very tired kids, all very happy with their little nuglets.

We settled down around the fire and watched a storm approach. Lots of lightning and thunder which was great.

As the sun set it gave off a wonderful glow.

We were cooking tea in the bushcooker and had just started when a few drops of rain fell. Luckily there wasn’t much rain and we finished cooking dinner. We just got back in the van when a good drop of rain fell but only for a brief period.

Thunder and lightning continued into the night all around us.
