Sun, 9th Apr, 2017 Gavin & Tonia’s, Kalgoorlie, WA (Malcolm racing at V8s in Tassie)

7.30am clear sky and only 16 degrees though they had forecast only 9.

Watched Mal’s second race in pouring rain. At least this time he had an umbrella though he had to drop that as he headed out to race. He and the other clubman driver had elected to start from the rear as he thought it would be crazy and he still just missed a big crash. Videoed it too. Finished all in tack and they even did an interview with him – will have to get an autograph!!

The V8s qualified in more rain but it dried out for the main race which was exciting. Ford 1, 2 finish.

The Sports GTs were the final race of the day and the track was good then so they managed to do all their laps. Mal finished 4th behind those bigger cars. The lead car had managed to lap everyone except Mal and the other two in front of him.

Sent of texts of congratulations and said we will ring him tomorrow.

One of Tonia’s friends’ husband is into detecting and they came around for a chat. We got out the ‘show and tell’ to keep him enthused as he hasn’t found any gold yet.

Kev and Linda texted – they are at Kambalda so we will see them tomorrow.

Poor Gavin had to work all day again and had hoped to get home so we could get out to Speedway as there was a big car meeting on. Unfortunately he was stuck at work and didn’t get home till 10.30pm.
