Sat, 22nd Sept, 2018 Mum & Dad’s, Cairns, Qld (Brian’s 50th birthday party)

Overcast morning then some rain showers came over.

Baked Anzac cookies and made Nuts and Bolts for our trip and for Mum and Dad.

Worked on my blog – should catch up before we leave!!

The sky has cleared and it is very windy after lunch so hopefully it should be fine for Brian’s party tonight.

Greg came over with the Tarago again so we could all go to the party together. I had arranged with all the family to meet half an hour early so we could get some Geck family photos. Jodie’s boyfriend, Bryan, had my camera and took some great photos. Will get some more off Jodie when she sorts out hers as she has a big flash camera.

The Gecks - Terry and his sister Maralyn with all their families.

Then we did each family etc.

I didn't get one of David's family - will have to get that off Jodie.

The marquee made a good backdrop.

The Cousins and the Second Cousins.

Brian has a couple of chaps to play live music and the kids have organised a slide show of Brian’s photos.

Steve, Greg and David were on the BBQ. Jon kept an eye on the proceedings.

Everyone had a great feed then Brian thanked everyone for coming. Erica and Terry spoke then Jodie, Stephanie and Samuel did a ‘this is your life’ for Brian.

Time for cake .

Kellie had taken photos so I borrowed them off Facebook. Her son Liam sang a Michael Jackson song with the band – not bad, got the right moves.

Steve dropped Mum and Dad home and was gone a long time. When he returned he said he had to ‘deal’ with a snake that had gotten into the house and was curled up in the corner of the toilet. Steve loves snakes – not!!

We had a great night chatting with lots of old friends as well as family. Steve met a lady who he met in Grade 8 and they both recognised each other. A couple showers of rain passed over so it was great Brian had the marquee.

We helped clean up and bit and left the younger and young at heart to continue partying on. Back home just before midnight. The curlews have had a chick and didn’t want us getting to near as we drove into the driveway. The parent spread his wings to try and scare us off.

Just after midnight I sent Brian a happy birthday text as he is now officially 50.
