Sat, 5th Oct, 2019 Lake Mason, north-east of Sandstone to Bush camp, south-east of Sandstone, WA

7am 18.5 degrees, clear sky and light cool breeze. That crazy peewee is back!

Packed up and headed back into Sandstone. Parked on the bitumen in a roadside stop and still go hit with a willy willy loaded with dust. I think WA is letting me know that I shouldn’t have bother cleaning the van!

Rang Mickey to let her know where we are headed. She got a call from Collin from Youno Downs saying we had called in and he was a bit apologetic about how he treated us.

We rang Greg to wish him a happy birthday for tomorrow as we won’t have phone reception where we are heading. Sent Libby a text then gave Rick a call as their birthdays are on the 7th.

Had lunch then headed down the Menzies Road to the leases we have permission to detect on. We found an area with heaps of shallow shafts and set up camp by a shady tree. I had updated the weather and it will be heating up again over the next few days with 40 degrees forecasted for Wednesday.

Went for a wander around the quartz blows and shallow workings. Steve found an old tin lid off a Swiss Milk tin.

Some shafts are about 6 feet deep.

Had a quiet afternoon reading as the wind blew, then stopped, then blew again. At least there is no dust flying about today.

The breeze got quite cool after sunset so we closed up the van while we had dinner and movies. The temperature changes are amazing, hot, cold, dry and windy!
