Tues, 17th
Cool morning, clear sky and light breeze.
Mum & bub koala up another tree, bub enjoying Mum’s milk still.
Steve still fiddling with the truck so I taught Leanne & Rick how to play 3 to Kings card game.
After lunch I placed the last bits in the suitcase then Rick drove us into Dinmore near Ipswich to catch the train to the airport. Our flight isn’t till 9.30 so we have plenty of time but are going early to avoid the rush hour congestion on the train.
Sent Annalise a text to say Rick was going to pick us up from the airport as she was on night shift. She said to watch out for the Curlews who are sitting on two eggs and mightn’t like midnight visitors!
Nice train ride into Roma Street then we changed to the airport train. Found a nice cafe and got some dinner while we waited till 7.30pm so we could put our bag in. Through security then around to our gate. Terry had given me two blow up neck pillows he got from the recent train ride up for Jon’s wedding. They were perfect. We snoozed on the flight so time passed quickly.
Wed, 18th
Messaged Rick when we landed and he was waiting for us when we got outside with our bag. So nice of him to stay up to take us home.
Sleeping in the house this time.
Annalise came home at 7.30am so had a quick chat then she went back to bed. Steve borrowed the ute and went out to see the guys. We had bought a 60th anniversary t-shirt for Griffo & Fozzie to say thanks for all their help with the truck. I had arranged to have Belinda come and cut my hair again so we stayed downstairs so Annalise could sleep.
Wendy picked me up and we went line dancing which was fun.
Back home. Sad news - the Sunbird’s baby hatched but didn’t survive so we got rid of the nest so they can start again. Having fun keeping an eye on the Curlews in case a goanna comes to steal their eggs. The kookaburras are back for their snacks and put on a nice performance of song for us.
Thurs, 19th
Wendy picked me up early to meet Kaylene on the Esplanade for an early walk. When we pulled into the carpark we saw Rebecca & Clive just getting into their car so had a chat with them. She is doing well after her hip op. Arranged to have lunch together on Sunday.
Nice walk then we had a cuppa at a nearby cafe. Said bye to Kaylene then Wendy & I went to another line dancing session.
Back to Wendy’s to change clothes then met the old line dancing ladies for lunch at the Bungalow Hotel. Very nice and great to catch up with them again.
Very windy day. Wendy and David are planning a ‘wander’ with their camper towing the Jimny and were thinking about Fraser Island. As we haven’t been there yet I looked into it and we decided to go over after Terry’s 90th birthday in early November. That suited them as Wendy’s mum, Heather, turns 90 on the 30th Oct so they will leave after her lunch celebration.
