I woke early so decided to get up and go for a walk. Steve stayed in bed.
The locals are up and about too.
Down the walkway to our beach access point. Looking lovely this morning.
Headed southward along the path to the end then down to the beach. Looking northward then southward.
Down on the flat. Headed back with the sun on my back.
Spotted some cormorants then realised there were heaps of them. Like a family teaching their kids to duck dive in the shallows. As I approached they would fly up as one and then land back in the water to play in the shallows again. I remember seeing a ‘family’ in the Murray River teaching the young ones how to dive.
Back to our access point. Bit of a lip to climb up at the moment.
Love all the tall Norfolk Pines.
Back home to the camper and sleep Steve.
Had breakfast then headed up to Bundaberg. Great to see Terry again. Had a cuppa then Steve headed off to get some parts for the truck. Terry and I went off to the Council to update his details for his pension discount on the rates. Did some other shopping too.
Back home for lunch. I got some linen out that needed to go back to Woodgate and found the lovely ‘tablecloth’ Amanda had made for Erica & Terry. Such a waste to have it in the drawer to got it out to take down to Woodgate. Terry is coming down tomorrow with his new camper.
We went with Terry to the Crematorium Gardens to check out Erica’s plaque. It is a nice peaceful spot in the Australia Garden which she would love. I took some photos to put up on our Geck Family Chat page on Facebook so all her grandchildren can see it till they can get here one day to visit. They haven’t put the R on for the reserved spot beside it for Terry yet.
Back home and we headed off. Steve realised the belt he got was the wrong one so we went back to the chap and he apologised and gave back the money. He suggested we try another place but no joy there so tried another place who said they can order it in so Steve placed the order. We were going to get a few more things but I noticed a lot of smoke in the distance so I checked the We Love Woodgate Facebook page and saw the latest update that the fire had flared up and now the road was closed again. We will have to go out the other road back to Childers then back down to Woodgate so better to go now in case they have to close that road too.
Got to the Goodwood School on the corner and a chap stopped to check where we were going. We said into Woodgate and he said ok. They are preparing people in the first houses here at Goodwood in case they have to evacuate due to the fire. Very smoky here - I wouldn’t want to stay in the smoke any case.
We continued on and out of the smoke. View back to the fire as we drove in.
Back to the beach where you wouldn’t know there are a fire burning anywhere.
Had our drinks then walked down to the Post Office and back. Swapped some books at the Street Library and left the DVDs that we have watched too.
Cooked dinner and watched a new TV series on Google Chrome.
