Thurs, 25th May, 2017 Malcolm Dam, near Leonora, WA

10 degrees at 7am, clear sky, no wind. The cold I had been holding off in Cairns has caught up with me!!

Went out to where the group has been finding some gold. I didn’t find anything other than hot rocks. Moved to another spot and Steve found a nice nuglet.

Back to camp for lunch and start the pack up as we will head off tomorrow to Lake Mason.

Steve had found this dated piece of metal which we think might be from a train carriage armchair, maybe. He gave it to Kev who is going to use it in a lamp he is planning. They have both been finding all kinds of bits and pieces – pair of bowerbirds they are!!

Steve  panned off the crushed quartz bits from Nullagine last year and got a nice haul out of it. We had picked out the nuglets when he first crushed it then we have another jar with bits of quartz that has bits of gold hanging onto the quartz. This was the remaining rocks that we couldn’t see any gold in – goes to show, that’s why they had the big stampers crushing the rocks.

Lovely afternoon/evening by the fire (with jumpers on). Saw a satellite at last – we think they have been turned off or something as we used to see 5 or 6 at least!!
