Sat, 9th April, 2022 Bush camp by Murrumujuk Beach, Shoal Bay, NT

Nice and cool (25 degrees) this morning, listening to the waves roll onto the wide flat beach.

Worked on my blog while Steve looked up things on the tablet using the Wifi off the phone.

Had a cuppa in the shade of the trees watching the waves - very peaceful.

Two motorbikes (looked like hire ones) gently made their way along the beach then a 4 wheeler came by with some locals who gave us a wave.

Jon texted - he has passed his truck driving test so he is all ready for any new job opportunity that might come his way.

After lunch more vehicles arriving on the beach and along the tracks but as we are down the end they don’t annoy us. 38 degrees in the camper.

After a cuppa in the afternoon I gave Steve a haircut though it was a very sticky affairs as the humidity and heat is a bit up there today. Finished off with a cold shower which made us feel better. We have cold showers all the time even at 10.30pm. We only used the HWS once when it was overcast at Charters Towers.

After drinks we went for a walk into the Conservation Area as the sun was behind a cloud so it wasn’t too hot. Unfortunately it was just grass and trees and you couldn’t see any more of the wetland area. The track just continued along the edge of the beach by a fence line then it reached a gate that I think I saw on the sign was private property. We could access the beach here so we walked back keeping an eye out for interesting shells to photograph. I am not too good on the close-ups.

Lots of cars on the beach now. Obviously the locals aren’t worried about the hot day.

The sun is starting to set when we got back to camp.

The back wall of the fridge has frozen over and now the temperature isn’t keeping stable. As we don’t have a lot of food in there we decided to turn it off, put the food in the truck fridge and defrost it. The ice quickly came off in big clumps which Steve sorted out while I cooked dinner. Put the fridge back on with the thermometer inside and we watched as the temperature started to drop down from the 27 degrees it got to with the door open.

By 10 it was down to 4 degrees so we put things back in the fridge and then went to bed.
