Wed, 13th April, 2022 Bush camp by upper reaches of Leaders Creek to Hidden Valley Van Park, Berrimah, NT

The sky is clear again though droplets are still falling off the leaves onto the camper.

Headed back into town to pick up a couple of things. Puddles on the dirt road but mostly fine. A few new ruts in sections where the cars and boats have gone through the mud.

I must say the staff everywhere we have been have been very helpful. Even if something isn’t on the shelf they will spend the time looking it up to see where it is available etc.

Around to the Van Park where we will park up till the end of the month. Another very helpful lady - said we don’t have to pay till we return as she hasn’t sorted it out yet, $10/night for when we are away, not sure yet how much for when we are here but that’s all good for the security etc.

Another helpful chap guided us down to our site in the new open area for vans etc. Nice and green though the grass needs a mow. He explained his new ride-on mower comes tomorrow so he quickly got out the push mower and cleaned our site then made a path through the grass to the amenities block for us and then mowed under the clothes line.

Only 6 other vans in this section and half are those are in storage.

Dropped the camper off so the springs on Smokey get a rest while we are away.

We set up camp then I got the washing going in their two machines. Nice breeze here and the sun is hot.

Dark clouds started coming over about 3pm but I managed to nearly get everything dry. A few of Steve’s shorts needed a bit longer.

4pm - the dark clouds dropped their bundle. I just managed to get off the last of the washing - still a bit damp so will hang them out again in the morning.

5pm - the storm has passed and it is nice and cool now. We sat outside in the shade of the trees behind us for our drinks.

I had a walk around the park - nice shady parks in the older section with ensuites etc and a few cabins.

Steve put the TV up - first time on this trip.

7.30pm - another storm arrived with loud thunder, lightning and strong wind and rain.

Steve got a text saying his PCR test was negative.

2 hours later before I got my result - negative.

Watched TV - Midsomer Murders - Mum would be happy!!

The rain stopped by the time we went to bed so we could open up again.
