12.7 degrees inside, forecast was for 11 with a maximum of 21 today in Ceduna. Still windy with puffy clouds on the horizon and blue sky above.
Continued east on the Eyre Highway to Penong through more grain fields. Lots of windmills here in Penong and the biggest one too. We checked them all out in 2016 but I couldn’t help taking a few more photos.
Played our last hole of golf as we don’t do the actual golf course in Ceduna. Took photos of each of us having a hit. Only Steve got it to go any distance!! It has been lots of fun.
Tom got a photo of us before we putted our balls into the hole - selfie time for the big finish.
Continued on - another road to mark off as we had done the coast road. More fields - just like the wheat belt in WA - fields for as far as the eye can see with a few sheep here and there.
Nice view across the water to Ceduna.
Into Ceduna - nice sign.
Stopped at the Quarantine Station - all good. Into town to get some fresh fruit and veggies from the IGA then continued on the Eyre Highway for a bit before we turned onto the Flinders Highway to go down the coast under a clear sky.
Kaylene rang - they have been busy packing up the house. Lots to do as well as Rick getting things happening with the new house in Yungaburra.
Into Smoky Bay for lunch. Parked near the jetty and had a walk first - the wind is still cold but the sun was nice.
Nice view from the end of the jetty.
Watched the fisherman take their oyster boat out.
Tom & Sandy bought some oysters for later. Back out to highway then continued along to Haslam. Cheap camp area here $20/night but the jetty is closed for repairs so we decided to continue on the Streaky Bay - they have a 48hr RV Stop there too for $20/night. We had visited here before.
Continued along with farms on the left and sand dunes on the right.
Blue water stands out as we pass Perlubie Beach - we had camped here on the beach in 2016. The farm has a farm stay as well now.
Caught up with a farmer moving his silo so we waited for a safe place to pass him.
Nice view across Streaky Bay as we roll down the hill.
Into town and down to the water - the caravan park is right on the beach.
The RV Stop is around the corner next to the sports ground. Set up with the wind still blowing hard. (Forgot to take a photo of camp)
Had a cuppa then went for a walk to the beach - tides out. View from other end and over the lovely grass to the jetty.
Found a sculpture of local lad who had won the Melbourne Cup three times. He won on Brew in 2000, then Almandin in 2016 and Cross Counter in 2018. Well done.
Wandered along - Streaky Bay Hotel established 1866 as Flinders Hotel. The Institute, 1887. Nice murals. Interesting info about babies by the park bench. Plaque at the site of the old Telegraph Station.
Tom & Sandy went for a drink at the pub while we wandered down to the jetty. Lots of history info.
Out to the end for a selfie.
Some cute mosaics around the garden bed as we head back to join the others.
Back along the beach - tide in a bit more.
Time for drinks when we got back. The cold wind is still blowing hard from the south. Inside for dinner as it was too cold to sit outside once the sun dropped.
