Thurs, 25th Sept, 2014 Sofala

Woke to the pitter patter of rain on the roof. 17 degrees at 7am. Showers throughout the day so had a rest day – me blogging and Steve designing a rainwater catching device which works really well to top up our water tanks.

Took a photo of all the casuarinas (oak trees) lining the Turon River.

I prepared another Ecopot chicken dish and decided to do a dessert as well – will be interesting!! It is only 15 degrees but the breeze is making if feel a lot colder. Time for a nice glass of port to warm my bones.

The sky clearing so Steve went in search of some more dry wood (we had covered what we had left) and got a fire going.

The chicken was delicious but the dessert (peach cake) needed longer so I put it back on the pot and cooked it for another half hour – still a bit doughy but nice enough. I was trying to cheat and put it on with the chicken but it needed to be over boiling water in the Ecopot to keep the heat. Experimenting is fun though.

Rang Kaylene and Rick for a chat and watched a satellite then 2 planes pass overhead just before the clouds moved in again.
