Woke
to rain and cold wind. Not the birthday morning I wanted but the weather
changes so quickly down here. After breakfast we layered on the clothes as we
were going to an auction with Mick. He was wanting a postie bike to take away
detecting and there was a couple for sale. I had left the phone in the car as
we don’t have good service here and I plugged it into the big aerial. Greeted
by a few texts and missed calls. Lou was the first to text at 1am so glad I had
left it in the car!!! Or he might have got an interesting text back!!
Rang
Mum & Dad back – do miss them so much but managed not to cry!! Headed into
the farm where the auction was and put on our raincoats for a walk around to
check out what was for sale. Lots of people are here.
They
had the Gladstone Fire Brigade there selling hot drinks and sausages to warm us
up. Jon rang, poor boy has a cold. Wish I could be there to look after him but
he was taking everything I would have told him anycase. These are the times
when I wish I could just pop back for a few days!!
Lots
of texts from everyone during the day which made the day brighter. Even a
rainbow.
The
rain stopped and the sun tried to peek through the clouds. We headed back to
the bay and went for a drive around checking out the shacks/beach homes. The
wind has chopped up the bay so not looking too inviting today.
Put
the lamb stew on in the Ecopot while we had lunch. The sky is clearing up. I
worked on my blog for a while Steve and Mick chatted. Loved all the texts and
facebook messages I have received.
At
5pm the sky was lovely and clear but it is still cold.
Pete
and Penny texted that they had arrived on the mainland and it wasn’t a nice
trip – poor things. Fozzy rang and I got his call which was great.
Missed
calls from Dan and Erica & Terry so plugged phone into car and had a nice
long chat with them. So proud of Dan as he has only been with the new company a
couple of months and has been given a raise and promotion to handling a big job
up there. Erica & Terry are at Kangaroo Island and are having a great time.
Mick
had the fire place going in the beach house so it was lovely and warm. Cooked
up some corn and spuds from Malcolm to have with the lamb and was ready to
serve when Anne arrived. She thought it was lovely not to have to cook tea.
Lovely
evening chatting but it was a cold walk back to the van at 9pm, 10 degrees
outside and 13 degrees inside. Was a great birthday getting all the lovely
messages from family and friends.
