Heavy
rain at 3am but now it is clear and sunny and the wind has settled. 21 degrees.
Packed
up and said our farewells. Has been a great 10 days. Lou rang to say thanks
too.
Programmed
Kate – not that we need it as we are following the highway. Up through Mortlake
and onto the Hamilton Highway. A few little towns to check out one day along
the way. Stopped at Tarrington for lunch by the Recreation Reserve. They have
Art hay bales along the road.
Lovely
old church too.
Through
Hamilton where we had come to the Speedway – quite a big town. Onto the Henty
Highway – not the smoothest highways!! Crossed Wannon River at Cavendish. We
had camped on the Wannon River at the southern end of the Grampians. Not much
here – there was no water at the other spot.
Travelling
along the western edge of the Grampians.
Across
the Glenelg River which was dry on one side of the bridge but a nice lagoon on
the other - Cherrypool Lagoon.
Drove
down the track to find a nice spot for the night.
After
a cuppa we went for a walk back to the bridge. Dry one side and wet the other –
the old bridge stumps. A big dark cloud is looming in the distance.
On
the other side of the road is the Black Range State Park.
Looking
forward to bed tonight to catch up on our busy week.
