Mon, 2nd July, 2018 Graves Hill Fossicking Area, near Sapphire, Qld

7am 16 degrees, overcast.

The lorikeets are back for breakfast. Two males are trying to get the girls’ attention. Very funny to watch their antics.

Went down to check out some spots Erica marked yesterday with her wires. Took down the angle sieve and the sieve shakers which made life a bit easy. We have decided the looking for gold is much easier.

A chap wandered down for a chap. Erica asked about his many rings and they have stones that he has found.

I spotted a shiny black rock with smooth sides, put it in my mouth to clean the dust off and it was a pretty green sapphire – yeah.

Rumbles of thunder sounded as a storm went around us. We got a light shower of rain and some wind.

Rang Brian to chat about his and Stephanie’s parties in September. He said it was raining in Cairns and more was coming – so much for sunny Queensland.

The storm passed. After dinner we all played Skipbo. Nippy cool breeze then drove us into bed. 9pm 16 degrees, stars appearing.
