Thurs 27th Feb, 2025 Geck Beach House, Woodgte, Qld

A couple of quick light showers before we got up. A few clouds now with the sun shining and quite windy. Only supposed to get to 28 today.

Went for our morning walk and spotted a ring-tailed possum that had just come across the road and is heading up the tree. Maybe someone evicted him from their shed.

Back home for a cuppa then Steve started mowing the lawn while Terry and I started recording the history of some of the tools etc he has in the shed. These are few things from his parent’s place in Mundubbera - kettle, butter churn and the rabbit trap that Terry used to catch crows so he could earn a some money from the Council. A saw set that came with the cross-cut saw from his grandfather’s travelling sawmill. The saw hangs in the Bundaberg house with a painting of the travelling sawmill on it.

Roald and Joan invited us to lunch at the Hotel so we drove down there and we had a lovely big lunch and chatted. Terry told them his stories of working in the forestry. I should have had the recorder going.

They pedalled back to the van park on their bikes and we drove onto the boat ramp to check out the changes. It had eroded away a while back and there was a big going on about the government fixing it up. There have put in big rocks and covered them in sand but of course the sea has been eating it away again. There are redoing the pathway too as some of that collapsed when the edge fell onto the beach.

Home for some quiet time then a cuppa. The sky is clear out to sea but still cloudy to the west.

Phil and Brenda called in for a chat. David arrived from Maryborough to stay tonight. We moved out the front for drinks so they joined us then Roald and Joan rode in. Great afternoon chatting.

Paul and Jenny came by on the way to the Bowls Club so we had a quick chat with them too.

Late dinner but no need to rush down here. Relaxing evening chatting.
