Sun, 28th Sept, 2014 Sofala

6.7 degrees at 7am and 6.2 degrees outside and mist again – we are temperature freaks now. I even checked the river water temperature after we barefooted, walked across it yesterday, when we wandered down to check out the other camps – it was 16.6 degrees. Great big motorhome towing a trailer with our size truck on the back with a boat on top – we thought we had weight and towing issues!!! Under the awning now at 11am it is 25 degrees so I am in my shorts and singlet again.

Steve headed off to Wattle Flat for his detector training – hope he brings something back to take a photo of!! I got into the domestics – swept & washed floor etc – that was 10 mins, then some reading, got some water from the creek and cleaned the camp oven, coffee and blog update. What a life!! The neighbours left so peace and quiet again – well except for the frogs and birds. Checked out the recipe books again and will do some pumpkin soup in the Ecopot at lunch then beef, mushroom and rice casserole in it for tea tonight. Found the camp oven recipe book so decided to do a damper also. Went for my walk along the tracks by the river. Steve says he gets enough exercise swinging the detector and climbing the hills. Found some more firewood etc and got the fire going myself too. The detecting course was good, no gold found but Steve learnt a lot. In the chatting after a local said for him to try Ration Point so he will head there tomorrow. Steve saw a fox near the road on his way out this morning. Good dinner though the casserole needed more flavour. No satellites tonight.
