Thurs, 27th Oct, 2022 Chris & Mickey’s place, Leonora to Bush camp near Harriston Mine, north-east of Leonora, WA

Clear sky, light wind.

Joined Mickey and Chris on the verandah with our cuppas while they created a couple more vegie patches. Their seedlings are popping up so they will have lots of different things to eat soon.

We took the dogs for a walk up the hill behind there house to check out the view from the water tanks. The old one has been replaced by two big ones.

Great view from here.

Walked around to the other side of the old water tank for a photo of Mt Leonora which is near the old Sons of Qualia mine and historical townsite.

Said farewell to Mickey and Chris. Hopefully we will see them in their new home at Northampton next year.

Out to the Information Bay to wait for Bob and Margaret to arrive. Had lunch then they snuck in - I didn’t recognise the new vehicle and the repainted van. It is so good to see them again after 3 years but it only feels like yesterday.

Headed out the Yambi Road to where we are going to camp. The clouds are coming over. We are to have a couple of warm days then it is going to drop to 18 degrees and very chilly nights - weird weather.

Drove through the active lease around Harriston Mines - lots of old shafts and found the pending lease boundary pegs. There are more shafts here too. Parked up and Steve got a fireplace organised.

We wandered over to the shafts - some are deep and others are shallow or like trenches.

Chatted the afternoon away by the fire then into the night. Lovely evening under the stars. Spotted some lightning flashing in the east - hope it doesn’t come this way.

It was 8pm when we went inside. Luckily I had leftovers to heat up for dinner. The wind picked up.
