Fri, 29th Apr, 2016 Bush camp to Bush camp on hill, 50km south of Meekatharra, WA

11 degrees this morning so put the heater on to take the chill out of the van while we have breakfast.

Went for a walk to get the lay of the land. From the track the land slopes upwards to low hills and we found the workings marked on the triangle lease.

Steve went for a detect and as I can get reception tried ringing Kaylene. She was out shopping with Wendy and Rebecca so had a great chat with them. Do miss my Friday shopping outings with them. Steve came back empty handed!!

We moved camp to the top of the hill as we came into the area before the triangle lease and I can get better reception.

We can also watch the road trains zoom along the highway from Nannine around the lake and down to the south.

I worked on the Tengraph map linking it to Google Earth to get GPS co-ordinates of the lease and then put them on the Hema map so Steve can see where we can detect legally.

As we are staying for a bit I got out my fairy lights and solar lights etc. It will be nice to stop for a while as I have over a week of blogging to catch up on. Lucky I write lots of notes.

Got a good fire going as there are heaps of dead trees. The sun is setting but as we are at a higher elevation we don’t get the same as the sunsets over the water.

It disappears but the colour hangs around about an hour before darkness falls.

Delicious camp oven dinner under the millions of stars – can’t get better than this and we aren’t freezing. Spotted a few more satellites. Watched the trucks zoom up and down the highway with the big lights blazing and the trail of red lights down the side following them.
