Sat, 14th May, 2016 Bush camp, 14km SE of Meekatharra, WA

7.30am 24 degrees, warm night – all the windows and vents open. Clouded over but only thin clouds.

Cuppa time and the clouds are parting and the sun is out again. Lyn and I had a few games of Yahtzee. Using sheets that I made when I worked at BSES and played with Yanneke – only 30 odd years ago!!

31 degrees at midday – only a light breeze from the west. Jeff got a nice little nugget but Steve only found rubbish. He went over where he found the ‘big’ nugget, just to make sure. He dug down to find the drill hole which the nugget was about 6 inches away and about 8 inches down.

He dug a nice hole down to find this number plate all folded up – strange!!

We had bought a new aerial but the radio still doesn’t work and Jeff can get it so Steve pulled the aerial off and found out the cable was cut off below it!! Joined it up and now we have Meeka FM and the ABC. At least we can get the news and weather now.

Boys went out again. Lyn & I were getting the fire going when a chap walked over the hill. Jeff had left his genie going to charge up with batteries and the guy heard the genie and came over to investigate. He and his brother are waiting till their E40 permit is approved to go detecting there.

Boys back, this time Steve brought back a little one. Didn’t register on the scales so probably only 0.1g but it’s gold. Back to the end of the finger photos!!

He brought me some coloured rocks back to decorate our fireplace with.

Lovely sunset – looks like that’s where all the gold is.

Perfect temperature for the evening again as we chatted around the fire enjoying the stars.

Mum and Dad rang as they had been reading my blog and saw the photos of Steve’s ‘rock’.
