Thurs, 12th May, 2016 Bush camp, 14km SE of Meekatharra, WA

7.30am 15 degrees and the wind is back.

Rang Malcolm to share the news of the gold. He thought it was great. He asked if we were getting blown away as they are having horrific winds down there. After we hang up the wind increased and got very strong and blustery. Rang the Tuckshop girls to share our excitement too.

Steve and Jeff headed off to scour the area better. I got a new book out and enjoyed a quiet time reading as the wind whistled around the van making my windchime sing.

No gold for Steve but Jeff found a little 1grammer. Had their lunch and off they went again but in another direction.

I sent through the photos of the gold to Malcolm and Mike. Rebecca and Clive rang so had a great chat with them. They head off tomorrow for their 8 week holiday up to Darwin and around.

Jon texted to say Bandit is having surgery tomorrow so I rang him back – nothing too drastic, a cyst on his back near his tail. Hopefully all will be good and it’s Jon’s wallet that will hurt the most!!

Lyn and I had a few more games of Sequence. The wind has suddenly stopped and it has warmed up a lot as the wind is now coming from the NE – straight off the desert I reckon. It is so drying too, I feel like a prune and I get electric shocks with the static electricity all the time.

Boys back and no gold for Steve again – got too much yesterday. Jeff got another little piece.

Steve got onto Mike and Anne and they were most impressed with the photo of the gold in Steve’s mouth – hoped he didn’t swallow it as it wouldn’t be nice to pass!!

Lovely around the fire tonight as it isn’t as cold. Had an earlier dinner so Steve could go for a night detect around the camp area. I read by book by the fire till he came back – empty-handed sadly. Oh well, that’s how it goes.
