Sat, 21st May, 2016 ‘Belly Plate Camp’, near Goodin Mine, 93km NE of Meekatharra, WA

7.30am 16 degrees, clear blue sky. Didn’t get as cold as we thought it might. Weather forecast was for a cold change and more rain but maybe we are far enough north.

Steve and Jeff headed off detecting. I went for my hour walk along the track listening to Mamma Mia.

Made a cuppa then the wind came up, flapping the awning around. Steve came back to check on things and hand over his earnings for today!! 3 nuggets, one was 0.6 grams and altogether they weighed 1 gram. Yeah, let’s hope this keeps up.

Steve back for a late lunch with another two nuggets, total of 0.4 grams this time. Jeff found a small rock that made loud noises and when he hit it with a hammer there was a nugget inside. He will crush it when he gets home to see how much fine gold is also in the rock.

Lyn and I played Sequence and chatted as the wind howled outside. Clouds are heading towards from the south-west.

A few drops of rain hit the van as it got darker around 4pm.

Steve came back with another two nuggets, 0.7 grams total so his total for the day was 2.1 grams. Jeff found a nice bigger one, probably about 2 grams.

We bunkered down in our vans as the wind and light rain rattled us. Lucky I still had stew leftovers.

Watched a movie and a bit more of the Breaking Bad series to pass the evening away.
