Fri, 6th May, 2016 Bush camp on hill, 50km south of Meekatharra, WA

8am 21 degrees and not a breath of wind. Complete cloud cover except for the edge on the horizon.

Brian had given us a book about exploring Aust before we left so I decided to highlight the roads we have travelled and tick of the towns and things we have seen.

By 10 the sky has cleared and the sun is charging up our batteries again.

Steve had gone across the highway to detect but didn’t find anything.

Got an email from Caravan and Motorhome On Tour magazine with a proof of my article for me to check. Looks great.

We drove back to Nannine to see if Jeff and Lyn are still in the shed. Turned off first to check out the Nannine Cemetery. A few old ones and some current ones too.

They have a great view across Lake Annean. Would be great to see it with water in it.

Looking back to the tailing piles around old Nannine Township.

We followed a track which took us over the ‘water’ and onto part of Baileys Island.

The track pettered out on the other side so we headed back to the cemetery. Found some water in the lake!!

Back to the fence line which we followed down to where we drove in the other day then we headed passed the old township and out onto the other part of Baileys Island over the man—made causeway to the mining area on the island.

Nathan had lent Steve a book about gold in the Murchison area – great map of Nannine and Lake Annean though it didn’t show the other part of Baileys Island we went on.

Spotted a rabbit.

Stopped before a bit open cut area to check out an old shaft Steve found.

It is on a rise with the lake on the other side.

Drove closer to the open cut for a look.

Back to the shed, Jeff & Lyn had left but another chap from Perth was there so we chatted with him for a bit.

As the sun was setting we headed back to the van for chicken casserole leftovers. Nice warm evening so we sat by the fire with our torches reading.

The wind picked up and the clouds came across again as we headed inside.
