Mon, 22nd Sept, 2014 Sofala

Warmer morning 10 degrees. Alfresco dining for breakfast - The sun warms us in the morning then goes over and warms us in the arvo.

Steve went off prospecting but only found gunshot pellets and nails on the hill above where we are camped. There is a deep mine shaft about 15 foot deep but no gold. Lots of big kangaroos here. If the locals are shooting them they are bad shots as the bullets are all in the ground!!! I had a quick walk up the hill to clean up the mess left from previous campers. The council have 44 gallon drums everywhere for rubbish and some people are just too lazy.

I spent the morning working on my blog though we only have phone and internet via the big aerial so won’t be uploading all the photos from the Blue Mountains till I get a better signal. It is so nice to be sitting outside in the sunshine. I even got down to shorts and singlet and when in the sun it was burning, but the breeze was still cool.

Steve coloured my hair as the greys were getting out of control. Got water from the creek and washed it using the shower at the back of the truck. Water was freezing but it was nice to have a long wash to clean my hair. We had the hot water in the truck on but it struggled to warm the freezing water so Steve turned the temp up.

Steve went off in the truck to explore another area that was marked on the map. No luck there either and there is a big power line going through it so that upset the detector.

I walked for a while along the river – the roads just meander around here. Nice and peaceful. There are funny sounding frogs here but we haven’t seen one yet – they were in the Pulpit Hill Creek too.

Got the fire going and cooked up the vegies in alfoil and fried the pork chops in Steve’s cooker. Very nice. Lou rang – great to have a chat – getting ready for Bathurst.
