Tues, 29th Dec, 2015 Dalvue Motel, Terang (Portland Speedway)

Slept well after our late night getting back from speedway. Lovely sunny morning, should be a top of 23 today.

Watched Sunrise and saw that Comanche won the Sydney to Hobart race as Wild Oats had to withdraw. Watched the next two maxis battle it out down Storm Bay into Constitution Dock. It was very still. Amazing to think we were on the dock last year enjoying all the atmosphere around the race.

Boys headed off to check the cars. I bought a chook and pulled it apart and made some more pasta salad. The chap was cleaning the room when I came back so went for a walk. Lovely and warm in the sunshine but cool in the shade.

Worked on my blog and all the videos I took of the racing.

All ready to go.

Off to Portland today – longer drive, 2 hours. Down through Warrnambool and along the coast then north to Heathmere where the Southern 500 Speedway is. Cold breeze here but warm in the sun.

Set the chairs up – a bit more like Cairns Speedway.

Some action shots as Glen and Lexi were in the same heat. This track was a better surface.

These guys were fun to watch. The red one lost his front wheel.

Looks like something out of the Adams Family.

Nice sunset.

Lexi had lost her electric steering so it was a frantic time in the pits to get her going again. Glen got 2nd in one heat but didn’t hear the call over his headset to be the random pick to go over the scales so got disqualified even though he turned around and went straight back when he found out. He then had so go through the Bmain and got 4th but because another car was high and came down on him, the officials said he was driving carelessly and gave him a two spot penalty therefore he was 6th. He still qualified for the Amain but was at the rear. Lexi was on pole in the Bmain but after a few laps the engine blew. What a shame. More work for the pitcrew but they were up to the task and got it all happening.

Packed up and headed back to camp.
