Another
beautiful morning. Slept well. Janet said there was a fog when she headed down
to the shops at 7am.
Helped
Janet prepare lunch. Steve got to work on the mower and Geoff was going to
whipper-snip. Steve luckily remembered how to use one as it has been over a
year (or two) since he has pushed a mower around!! Geoff found the fuel pumpy
thing was broken on the whipper-snipper so we ducked into Sorrento so see if we
could get a part and get some wine. Lots of Melbournians out enjoying the
lovely clear skies though it was still only 15 degrees. Couldn’t get the part so
he got out with the hand-shears to trim around the edges!!
Connected
up my laptop to the big TV to look at all the old photos and the latest ones I
took of Millaa house.
All
ready as Roz, Jimmy, John and Jocelyn arrived. Then Simon and Sue arrived as we
were looking at the photos. Everyone enjoyed looking at the photos and chatting
about them all.
Got
some family photos before we tucked in.
Even
Simon & Sue’s “Gary” joined in for lunch!! I told them about our “Noel” who
joined the navy years ago!
Lunch
was delicious and we all had a great time chatting. Steve showed them his gold.
Sue
used to live in Cairns and who could believe it when she said she lived in
Westcourt and a little street near Cazalys – then she said it was Svendsen St –
No. 15 – the high set next to our house!! Fancy that – what a small world.
A
few of us walked up to the lookout overlooking Koonya Back Beach. Roz took a
great photo of us.
There
were heaps of cars and a few people in the surf but they weren’t doing much
surfing. As we were leaving I noticed a lot of people were wearing leis so I
enquired and a chap said his son died here in a surfing accident 12 months ago
– so sad but they were all there celebrating his life.
Wonderful
afternoon spending time with everyone. So great to connect again.
After
farewells as the others headed off we packed up and headed back to Smiths
Gully. Such a nice weekend we went back up the highway along bay side of
Mornington Peninsula. The water was flat and lovely and people were swimming as
it was 21 degrees still.
Tried
to get some nice sunsetting photos as we headed home.
Back
home for dinner. Still only 18 degrees in the house though the good weather
won’t last long – time to leave!!! Predicting 5 degrees overnight again soon.
Clear
sky with sparkling stars and half a moon as we head back to the van.
