Up
early for breakfast before we head off to the airport. 13 months now into our
adventure.
Got
some photos with Mum & Dad in between our tears. It has been so wonderful
seeing them again and will miss them so much.
Beautiful
day to be leaving Cairns - it is only 16 degrees in Melbourne – oh how we have
enjoyed the warmth.
More
tears as they dropped us at the airport but I pulled it together. We were 2kg
over in the big bag so pulled out some things and put it in the backpack –
still the same weight going on the plane!! Through security then settled down
to wait for the plane. Sent off some more farewell texts and got some beautiful
ones back from my boys so tears started again!! I will be fine when I get back
in the van again!!
Kids
obviously sat where we were as there were crumbs all over the seats and the
floor!! But it was a beautiful day to be flying. Steve was on the window so I
could get some photos.

More
clouds now but we could still see all the waterways around Hinchinbrook Island.
Lucinda
with very long jetty.
Starting
to turn away from the coast now. You can just make out Palm Island under a
cloud.
Over
lots of vast open land then as we started our descent the patchwork quilt
started.
Bigger
properties.
Just
missed a blast in a large quarry north of Tullermine airport.
On
the ground, brakes on. Everyone started putting on their jumpers.
Cool
as we walked off but not freezing – it should only get better temperature wise
from now on!!
Janet
and Geoff were waiting at the baggage area for us. So great to see them again.
Poor Janet dislocated her shoulder snow skiing last week. Caught up on the news as we headed back to
Smith’s Gully. Rang Mum & Dad to say we had arrived and texted the boys.
Our
van and truck were waiting there for us – all good. Had a cuppa then unpacked
as Janet and Geoff had work calls to make etc. We went for a walk around the
dirt roads with Janet – lots of big kangaroos mowing the grass. She said she
has seen a couple of albino ones here too.
Lovely
lamb roast and vegies for dinner with the wood fire keeping us warm. Going to
be 6 overnight. After a cuppa we headed back to the van (15 degrees) to put on
the heater and have our showers. Into our bed – oh how nice it is.
