Fri, 4th September, 2015 Mum & Dad’s, Cairns

Lovely cool night, 17 degrees!! Fine temperature for nights - not days like in Victoria!! Clear sky again – just love this time of the year in Cairns.

Into Central Shopping Centre to meet Kaylene and Wendy for a cuppa.

Then met up with the ‘Melbourne Cup’ girls that came to Melbourne for the Cup last year – Sandra, Sandy, Bev and Kathy with Wendy for lunch at Coast Roast (which is owned by our old neighbours from Cicero Close). Great to catch up with them all again. Told them to plan another trip to Perth next year so I can join them again.

Back home to change then meet Kaylene for our afternoon Esplanade walk.

Drove down to BMX to say hi to everyone – only a few left that I know now but it was great to see them. Caught up on Leanne’s ‘grandma’ news about her little granddaughter, Alison, that Benji and his lady had recently. Grabbed a burger from the Canteen – boy the years have flown from the many years we spent in there feeding the BMX crowds!! Saw Felix, Prema and Joseph, who had the flu but is still doing well in his studies to be a primary school teacher. Chatted with Michelle and a few others ‘old’ chums then caught up with Fiona again. State Titles will be on at the end of September – will have to remind Jon to go down for a look.

Back home to write up my blog then watch some TV with Mum and Dad after they got home from dinner at Brothers.

Got our job descriptions for Bathurst Volunteering. I am a gatekeeper on Gate 12 which is near the Hotel near the Chase and Steve is a carpark attendant - he thought it might be shorter hours but he was wrong but we both still finish at midday so we can still see alot of racing.
