Tues, 31st May, 2022 Hidden Valley Holiday Park, Berrimah, NT

Lots of clouds again this morning. Walked the other way today over to the Motor Sports Park. A few marquees have started being erected in readiness for the Supercars in a couple of weeks.

The fighter jets flew off from the airport in pairs. There has been about 20 this morning. Some have a lightning strike symbol which David said is the 1 Squadron F18s.

Very humid so we were dripping with sweat by the time we got back so went for our first swim here. Nice and cool and quiet for 5 minutes then the kids arrived! Back to the camper for a cuppa.

I found a phone number for TNT so rang it and put it on speaker for ages before I spoke to a human. He said there was an enquiry put in by Shippit and as they are the ‘customer’ who gave it to them he couldn’t tell us anything. He did give me an email address to send my complaint to and Shippit’s phone number. I rang them and got a chap that was hard to understand but basically he said they are investigating and will let us know!

Gary and Cheryl dropped in to invite us to join them and another couple for sunset dinner at Nightcliff on the beach. They have a back seat so they can take us. One great thing with travelling is you meet such wonderful people.

1.10pm just got a text from Shippit saying the driver has our parcel and is delivering it today. Wow, we will see if it happens.

After lunch I rang Eclipse to let them know what was happening and he said that he had spoke to Shippit and TNT too. Shippit asked for a description of the parcel so fingers crossed someone might find it put in a cupboard or something. How can a parcel be scanned in Cairns after leaving Brisbane then end up back in Brisbane then nobody knows where it is!!

At last the truck drove in and we got our turbo. Steve got straight to work installing it. We let Eclipse Turbos know we had it and will ring them once it is in and working. Steve got the turbo in and a few bits connected. Will finish it off tomorrow morning.

Gary & Cheryl picked us up at 4.30pm. Great news for them too as their parts for their camper trailer arrived too so hopefully they will be on the road again soon too. The other couple aren’t joining us now. We headed to Casuarina shopping centre and picked up buns, chook and salad for dinner. We drove to Sunset Park in the suburb of Nightcliff where there we lots of picnic tables and a jetty. Unfortunately a big band of cloud will block the sunset but the breeze is lovely and it is so nice to be out and about and chatting with two lovely people.

We had drinks and nibbles and chatted. More people arrived and there are a few fishing off the jetty. We had dinner watching the lightning flash behind the big cloud band putting on a great show.

We drove into the city, passing Mindil Beach and the Casino which looked nice with its lights. Around to Cullen Bay which is a touristy area with lots of food places. This is a staircase up to a large grassy area and the beach for people to come and sit and watch the sunset.

Then into town and down to the Waterfront area and out onto Stokes Hill Wharf where a big ferris wheel has just been erected. It opened on the 27th May and closes on 9th Oct.

There are a lot of food places here too but they are all closed now as it is after 9pm. Most are casual but Crustaceans is a full sit down service restaurant. Looks nice inside.

Back home at 10pm. We had a wonderful night and it was great to just relax with friends.
