Tues, 14th Mar, 2023 Kev & Linda’s place, Glen Iris, WA (Erica’s passing)

Up early. 6am headed off with Kevin to go fishing. Nice sunrise as we motored out the estuary.

Went out the front and down the coast a bit to one of Kev's fishing spots. Land breeze so it was comfortable though there was a pretty big swell. His boat rides well so we were all good. Steve put out the sea anchor and we drifted over spots. Unfortunately the fish weren’t happy to jump on our lines though I did get the first 2 - little flathead and wrasse. Eventually we ended up with 3 wrasse so we headed inshore a bit for a cuppa. Steve put out the anchor - Kev had a clip from rope to chain and as Steve dropped it over the clip undid and down went the anchor!! Luckily he had another one - expensive fish today!! Kev just laughed but Steve felt bad.

Some photos as we zoomed back of the beach. Spotted some people getting their all over tan at the nudist beach! This building stands out - can’t remember the nickname it has. The lighthouse stands out too. We climbed the tower on the right for a great view when we explored the area a few years ago. Another angle of the big building.

Just as we came back into the estuary we spotted a dolphin. I managed to get one good photo.

Back to the boat ramp. Steve got the trailer and Kev drove it on. He loves his boat.

Back home for lunch. I helped Kev and Linda with computer things and loading Trilobite on his tablet so he can join us later in the goldfields and know where he should be legally.

Played Tri-ominos though we didn’t bother scoring - just laughed a lot.

Rang Terry - Erica slept all day again and no food. The staff have been very supportive and Amanda is staying with him tonight. David had to go back to Maryborough for work but will come back tomorrow.

Had dinner in the camper. Terry rang (7.39pm) to say Erica had just passed away at 9.30pm (Qld time). Sadly he wasn’t able to be with her as she passed quietly and quickly. Amanda and Terry were heading in to see her once last time. So glad she didn’t have to suffer for too long. I sent the boys messages and then all the family and friends who had been in contact with her over the last 3 months I have been with her and Terry. So glad David and Amanda have time now to be able to help Terry through the next stage. Steve is relieved his Mum’s suffering is over now as she was always an in control of everything woman and this time in her life was not what she had wanted but she said frequently she had had a great life and was ready to move on. We are so happy to have been able to have spent the time with her and Terry recently but feel sad they were weren’t there for the end but it looks like she wanted to leave by herself which she did do. Love you always Mum!

Steve and I played Skipbo and Erica was sending down her good luck as I won 3 games in a row - poor Steve. She had said to me after our last day at the pokies that would be her last one. I had said the David & Amanda would take her but in the end it was her last one. She can join Mum, Dad and Val and Uncle Robbie now at Heavenly Pokies and always win!

We finished off our tribute to Erica by having ice cream which she loved. That was the one thing she said about being in hospital etc that she got dessert twice a day - heavenly!
