14.3 degrees, light breeze, clear sky overhead with a cloud band on the horizon. The BOM says Meeka had 9mm yesterday.
Steve went over to see how the tent campers had fared - I stayed and read my book. They had everything out trying to dry it in the sun that is now shining. Only here for a couple of days and found a few bits in the old mine piles.
The ground wasn’t too bad so we headed out with our detectors after morning tea. Unfortunately no more gold for us.
After lunch we decided to move further down the lease. Tried one spot below an old shaft area but no joy. Headed back to another spot and set up camp for the night.
Steve went wandering but I stayed and read my book. He came back with a few bits of rubbish.
Sandy sent a text to say BBQ night tomorrow as there is a lot of rain forecast for Sat. As our ‘patch’ had run out we said yes thanks and will head over to the lease tomorrow afternoon.
Got a fire going to burn our rubbish and sit beside while we have our drinks. There is a very cold light breeze when you get away from the fire. Only got to a max of 24 degrees today. The timber is shooting out little bits of burning coals which make me jump so I moved away from the fire. One flew up onto the camper roof so Steve got the ladder to make sure it wasn’t burning a hole up there. Last time I got spat at it was a little rock under the fire and it burnt through my jumper and onto my skin before I could flick it off - nasty!
Inside for dinner and a movie.
