7am
27 degrees, clear sky and gusty wind. Sunrise is getting earlier each day which
means the van warms up quickly which is nice. Black Friday but we hoping it
will be a good day rather than bad.
Packed
up and on the road back through Mullewa – the cat was off the pole.
Headed
west to Geraldton. Across the Greenough River – not looking to exciting at the
moment but it can flow well in the wet.
Turned
off into a dirt track up to Bringo Hill Lookout – good camp spot but not a
great lookout really. Good view across the fields to Geraldton and the Indian
Ocean. Zoomed in on the grain silos.
Through
Geraldton to the Esplanade where they have allocated some bays for overnighting
for self-contained RVs beside the car and trailer parks near the boatramp.
There is also parks for campervan/backpackers. Don’t know how they qualify for
self-contained though!! We got a spot and set up for the night.
Rang
Erica to see how she was going – slowly improving. Walked up to the Info Centre
for maps of the town. A bit of information on Geraldton’s railway history.
Beautiful
big fig tree beside the Info Centre.
Walked
down to Town Beach past a great playground area.
Looks
inviting.
We
then headed off to do our shopping etc. Packed everything away then headed down
the new Esplanade Precinct. Didn’t notice that the sun had set – mustn’t have
been a good sunset. Lots of info boards along the way.
Looking
back to the shore.
Glad
we wore our flannies – bit chilly out here. The new viewing platform.
Looked
through the binoculars but no sea lions – only lots of birds and one fisherman.
View
over port area then over the Geraldton foreshore.
Across
to the other side of the point where there was a wind-up speaker that told of
bringing in the ships using tugboats etc. The railway line comes out here too
as they fill the wagons.
Getting
a bit dark for these info boards.
Back
to the van for dinner – lots of fresh vegies that we haven’t been able to get
in the goldfields. Noisy here with the loading of the ships but it is free so
we aren’t complaining. All the bays are full now.
