Fri, 26th July, 2019 Bush camp near Mosquito Creek, east of Nullagine, WA

Up early, 5am for 3hr drive south to Newman. 14.3 degrees and very dark though there is a little bit of moon shining with the stars. Had breakfast and left just before 6am.

Good trip down, got fuel and gas done first then bought a nice coffee each. The ladies wanted to know about our travelling then gave us some cookies too. Steve filled up the truck with water while I got the coffees and another couple pulled in for water. They were from Mackay and said they heard about a 13.5 ounce nugget found recently when they stopped in at Nullagine. Hopefully there is still a nice one with our name on it out there waiting for us to find it. Sent a text to Ray and Carol about the nugget as we had heard someone found a good one. They were surprised to see we had gone when they got up at 6am as they are always off detecting early and come home early while we don’t head out till 8.30 but don’t come back till 5pm, hence they didn’t think we could get up early!! It was an ongoing joke about the early bird gets the gold but as we said all the good ones were found after lunch!!

Rang Erica for her birthday on the 24th. She has a cold now, hope it doesn’t get worse. Rang Wendy for her birthday tomorrow. She is meeting the ladies for lunch. Gave Mum a quick call, will ring her again when we get to Nullagine.

Did the groceries and got it all packed into the truck. Got fuel and groceries for Dave, Max & Pauline too. Rang Jon and Daniel for a quick chat before we headed back to Nullagine.

Topped up the fuel at Nullagine then did my internet stuff. Rang Mum again, they both had a funny bug but hopefully are all ok now. I feel terrible about not being around to help but they both understand and are happy we are enjoying our lives. Looking forward to being with them both in October.

As we headed back up to Mosquito Creek we saw smoke – someone is doing some mowing!!

Home by 6pm – unpacked the basic stuff then heated up leftovers for dinner.

Warmer evening but by bedtime it was cooling off so we closed up the van again.

NO PHOTOS TODAY.
