7.30am
16.9 degrees, clear sky and the wind is still blowing hard.
Packed
up and drove into Marble Bar to top up the fuel and water. As I was paying for
the fuel a lady bought a caramel slice. It was huge, homemade and only $4.50 so
I decided we could have a treat.
Had
a cuppa in the park with only half of the slice as it was huge.
Drove
50km down the Marble Bar-Nullagine Road and turned off and headed east to a
lease we received permission to detect on. We were here 3 years ago with Jeff
on Steve’s birthday so we are 10 days earlier this time. It is on Bonney Downs
Station which is the same as Mosquito Creek area and we can see they have done
their muster here too. There are lots of cattle around the water trough at Trig
Well. Since we were here last there is a new tank and round trough so the
cattle won’t run out of water like last time. Steve and Jeff had to fix the
windmill so it would pump the water into the trough for the cattle.
Found
a spot in between the hills and set up camp with the wind still whistling
around us. There are some dig holes around, two of them quite big and left open
– lazy buggars. I will fill them in before we leave.
Had
lunch, nice and cool at 25 degrees.
Went
for a drive and got some firewood – time to have a fire again and cook dinner
outside. We got some water from the windmill too for our shower water.
Have
phone reception – just, but at least a text will come through.
I
helped Steve collect rocks so he could make his fireplace. Needed to build up
one side as the wind is still blowing well.
Went
for a wander around camp with our detectors. Picked up the other people’s
rubbish but didn’t find any gold.
Got
the fire going and enjoyed sitting beside it when we had our drinks even if the
cool wind is still blowing.
Steve
cooked roast vegies and steak for dinner – yum. Quite chilly now as the half
moon shines down on us. Didn’t spot any satellites.
Inside
for dinner and movies.
