Wed, 8th May, 2024 Roald & Joan’s place, Cooroibah to Leanne & Rick’s place, Wivenhoe Pocket, Qld

More rain on and off during the night but blue sky with a few clouds when we woke up this morning.

Joan had to leave early so we had said bye last night. We had a slow start. Had a cuppa with Roald then said goodbye to him and Sarah and headed off.

Programmed ‘girlie’ to get us back to the motorway and headed south. Turned off onto Steve Irwin Drive. Stopped for a cuppa in park at Landsborough. Continued down to Beerwah then turned onto the Beerwah-Kilcoy Road. Up and down the hills to Kilcoy. Continued on to Somerset Dam. Took a couple of photos from the lookout.

Pulled into The Spit for lunch. Steve trying to cope with the cold by not wearing a jumper, won’t last long. Only a couple of fishing boats here this time - last time it was packed with ski boats etc. Cool wind and overcast and just as we were finishing lunch a few spits of rain fell.

View across to the dam wall.

Continued on past the road around to the dam wall.

Spotted some info signs a bit further along and couldn’t remember if I got them the last time. Unfortunately the other one is very faded. Looking back at the ‘gates’.

Through Somerset Dam village - only a couple of campers in the campground.

Continued along the river edge then turned left and crossed over the Stanley River. View upstream back to the village.

Continued on till we reached the upper reaches of Wivenhoe Dam then headed around to Leanne & Rick’s place.

Parked in our usual spot and joined them to chat away the afternoon. She has put in shade blinds on the verandah and it has made a big difference.

Had our drinks then headed into Fernvale for dinner at the pub - parmie night. Very nice too. Even took a Keno but didn’t have any luck.

Back home for desert and a cuppa then into the camper. Bit chilly out there tonight, 14 degrees!
