Tues, 7th May, 2024 Geck Beach House, Woodgate to Roald & Joan’s place, Cooroibah, Qld

Cool morning with a clear blue sky. Went down for our last walk and the tide was in and flat - what a shame we are leaving.

Had breakfast then loaded the camper back on. Said farewell to the neighbours and headed off along the Esplanade. Looks like it will be a perfect day in paradise here.

Into Childers to pick up a few groceries then a cuppa and cream bun at the Bakery. The Army are heading north with all their ‘toys’.

Clouds are building.

Headed south on the Bruce Highway. New trivia questions to keep us alert.

1. What is a Petrichor - we didn’t know this one. Answer - the small of rain (when it falls on the dry earth when I researched it on Google).

2. Oldest bridge in Qld - didn’t know that one either. Answer - Dickabram Bridge, 1886. Googled that and took a couple of screen shots. It was a road/rail bridge on the Gympie to Kilkivan railway line across the Mary River. Will have to find it next time we are back here. It is also the 2nd oldest in Australia. The last train crossed the bridge in 2008 but it is still open to vehicles.

Continued south then turned off at Cooroy exit and around to Roald and Joan’s place. Parked in our usual spot and went inside to chat as there were a few spits of rain.

Roald had rung Steve about his gas hot water so Steve went and checked it out. It was leaking beyond repair so they found one at Tradelink in Tewantin and headed off to buy it. Joan’s niece, Sarah, is visiting so I joined them for a drink at the neighbours. Lots of interesting conversation and laughter.

When we walked back the boys had the old hot water out and the new one nearly installed. Roald was very grateful and Joan was pleased she was cooking us dinner. We tried some of Roald’s Muscat too which was nice so he gave us a bottle as well.

Great night chatting and laughing then out to the camper to bed as rain started to fall.
