Mon, 8th July, 2024 Bonney Well Rest Area, south of Tennant Creek to Bush camp in Kurinelli Fossicking Area on Kurundi Station, NT (Dad & Ella’s birthdays)

The Windmill started clunking at 3am for about half an hour. Took a while to work out where the sound was coming from.

18 degrees and overcast this morning. My funny chest cough is looking more like a cold now then me gassing myself when Steve coloured my hair!

Remembering Dad on his birthday. Sent off wishes for Ella in the UK for her 21st birthday.

Dropped air out of the tyres for the trip into Kurundi Station.

Across the highway and onto the dirt road which is also part of the Binns Track.

Chased a bustard down the road till he saw sense and got off the road. He flew off just when I picked up the camera.

Stopped at the homestead and owner, Bec signed our forms and reminded us there is to be no fires.

Had a cuppa at the homestead waterhole which is still flowing after the recent rain. They have had over a metre this year.

A big red roo bounded off from beside the road, luckily away from us.

Turned off the Binns Track and into the Kurinelli Goldfields Fossicking area. The sky is clearing. We went through the gate and around to a camp area we spotted last year beside a dry creek. The grass has grown a lot so we will be working harder than last year.

Set up camp then had lunch. We put the aerial on the camper and we have great phone reception here which is good. The others have Starlink.

We all headed off for a wander out from camp to see what we could sniff out with our detectors.

Much warmer day - 30 degrees in the camper so back to tank top and shorts - Yeah.

Chatted over drinks in the afternoon.

Lovely night temperature for a change.
