Fri, 20th Oct, 2023 Jon & Annalise’s place, Cairns, Qld (Daniel & Fran’s wedding)

Quiet morning. I worked on trying to catch up on my blog - miles behind!!

Steve packed up his gear to go up to the Palmer River with Rick tonight for a few days.

After lunch got dressed up and headed into the Court House to meet Daniel and Fran and her parents for the wedding ceremony. They will have a celebration next year after the baby is born and they will be in their new home then too.

They both looked lovely. Fran’s brother was there to take some photos. Daniel gave Steve the rings to hold.

The celebrant took us upstairs. Sadly it was just a room with a table - nice cloth etc but not quite what we expected. She asked them to sit on one side and we all sat at the other end then she started. Very nice wording etc but it was odd to have them sitting when they are saying their vows. They stood when they exchanged rings.

Then she pronounced them husband and wife and it was sealed with a lovely kiss.

Now for the paperwork to become Mr & Mrs Geck. Fran’s parents were the witnesses.

After the paperwork was done we got up and hugged and kissed then took some photos. I gave Fran the purse I had cross-stitched for Erica’s 50th wedding anniversary which she thought was lovely.

Then Steve presented Daniel with the fob watch that has been handed down from father to eldest son - Albert (his watch), Claude, Terry, Stephen, Daniel.

Family photos.

I gave them my cross-stitch verse to celebrate their wedding day.

I also had a gift from Terry to give to them which they were very grateful for. Hopefully he can come up for the celebration next year and to meet his grandchild - son he says as the eldest son’s first born has been a son for many generations. We will find out soon when Fran has her next scan.

I got a close up of their rings.

Back downstairs where we said farewell to her parents and brother. We waited for Dan & Fran Geck outside while they put in the paperwork to get the official certificate arranged which they need to change Fran’s name on bank accounts etc. I also had another gift from Terry to give Daniel - a cut-throat razor which had been his grandfather Albert’s.

More hugs and kisses as we said farewell. They are having a couple days relaxing in Palm Cove. Unfortunately Fran’s morning sickness has still been lingering. Hope she feels better soon.

Back home. Kaylene came over with a gift for Dan and Fran which I will drop off on Monday. Rick arrived ready to take Steve away for a few days. Hope they find the mother lode!!

Kaylene stayed for dinner with me and Annalise so we had a lovely night.
